Whenever someone came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a need, he would turn to those sitting with him and say, "Intercede for him so that you may be rewarded, and Allah will decree through the tongue of His Prophet whatever He wills."
كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا أتاه طالب حاجة، أقبل على جلسائه فقال: اشفعوا فلتؤجروا، وليقض الله على لسان نبيه ما أحب.
Bukhari narrated it in al-Adab (6028), and Muslim in al-Birr wal-Silah (2627), both through routes from Burayd bin Abdullah, from Abu Burda, from Abu Musa, who related it. The wording given is Muslim's.
