A man from the Ansar was with the Prophet ﷺ, and he had a small child with him whom he kept hugging close to himself.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him, "Do you have compassion for him?"He replied, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."He said, "Allah is more merciful to him than you are, and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful."
كان رجل من الأنصار عند النبي ﷺ ومعه صبي له، فجعل يضم صبيه إليه، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: أترحمه؟ قال: نعم يا رسول الله، قال: فالله أرحم به منك، وهو أرحم الراحمين.

Nasai narrated it in Al-Kubra (7664), and this is his wording, and Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad (377), and Bayhaqi in Al-Shuab (6732), all of them through routes from Marwan bin Muawiya Fazari, who said, Yazid bin Kaysan narrated to us, who said, Abu Hazim Ashjai narrated to us, from Abu Hurairah, who said, and then he mentioned it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Yazid bin Kaysan Yashkuri, for he is hasan al-hadith.
