We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as a group of young men close in age, and we stayed with him for twenty nights. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was merciful and gentle, and he sensed that we had begun to miss our families. He asked us about those we had left behind, and we told him.He said, "Return to your families and live among them. Teach them and instruct them. When the time for prayer comes, let one of you call the adhan, then let the eldest among you lead the prayer."
Bukhari related it in al-Adab (6008), and Muslim in al-Masajid (674), both through the route of Ismail bin Ibrahim, who said, Ayub narrated to us, from Abu Qilaba, from Malik bin Huwayrith, who said, and then he mentioned it.
