Someone said to him, "Has your Prophet taught you everything, even how to relieve yourselves?"He replied, "Yes indeed! He forbade us from facing the qiblah while urinating or defecating, from cleaning ourselves with the right hand, from using fewer than three stones for cleaning, and from using dung or bone for that purpose."
قيل له: قد علمكم نبيكم كل شيء حتى الخراءة؟ قال: فقال: أجل! لقد نهانا أن نستقبل القبلة بغائط، أو بول، أو أن نستنجي باليمين أو أن نستنجي بأقل من ثلاثة أحجار، أو أن نستنجي برجيع أو بعظم.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Purification (262) via Amash, from Ibrahim, from Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid, from Salman, and mentioned the hadith.In another version, some of the polytheists said mockingly, "I see that your companion teaches you everything, even how to relieve yourselves!" He said, "Yes indeed!" Then he mentioned the hadith.As for the word khiraah, Khattabi said it is pronounced with the kha vowelled by kasrah and the alif elongated, meaning relieving oneself and sitting to answer the call of nature. He said that most narrators vowel the kha with fatha and do not elongate the alif. Jawhari said in Sihah that khiraah is pronounced with fatha and elongation.
