The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Cleansing with stones is done in odd numbers, casting the pebbles at the Jamarat is done in odd numbers, walking between Safa and Marwa is done in odd numbers, and circumambulation is done in odd numbers. So when one of you cleanses with stones, let him do so in odd numbers."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: الاستجمار تو، ورمي الجمار تو، والسعي بين الصفا والمروة تو، والطواف تو، وإذا استجمر أحدكم فليستجمر بتو.
Muslim narrated it in the Hajj (1300) from Salama bin Shabib, who said, Hasan bin Ayan told us, Maqil (who is Ibn Ubaydullah Jazari) told us, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, and he mentioned it.As for his statement "taww", the taww means Witr, the single one. It is said he came singly, meaning alone. The taww is also a rope twisted into a single strand, not made into a firm, doubled cord. Its plural is atwaa.
