The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If a man were to fall on his face from the day he was born until the day he died of old age, all in seeking the pleasure of Allah, he would consider it insignificant on the Day of Resurrection."
إن رسول الله ﷺ قال: لو أن رجلا يخر على وجهه من يوم ولد إلى يوم يموت هرما في مرضاة الله لحقره يوم القيامة.
Ahmad (17649), Tabarani in al-Kabir (17/122-123), and Bayhaqi in Shuab al-Iman (751) all narrated it through various routes from Baqiya bin Walid, who said, "Buhayr bin Saad narrated to me, from Khalid bin Madan, from Utba bin Abd," who said, and then he related it. Its isnad is sahih, and Baqiya bin Walid has explicitly stated that he heard it directly.It is further strengthened by what has come from Muhammad bin Abu Umayra, as a mawquf report, and he was one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "If a servant were to fall on his face from the day he was born until he died of old age, all the while in obedience to Allah, that day would still seem insignificant to him, and he would wish to be returned to this world so that he could increase in reward and recompense."Ahmad (17650), Ibn Mubarak in al-Zuhd (34), Ibn Abu Asim in al-Ahad wal-Mathani (1124), and Tabarani in al-Kabir (19/249) all narrated it through various routes from Thawr bin Yazid, from Khalid bin Madan, from Jubayr bin Nufayr, from Muhammad bin Abu Umayra, and he related it. Its narrators are reliable (thiqat).
