A woman asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Must a woman perform ghusl if she has a wet dream and sees the fluid?"He replied, "Yes."Ayesha said to her, "May your hands be covered with dust, what a question!"She said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Leave her alone. How else does resemblance come about? When her fluid prevails over the man's fluid, the child resembles his maternal uncles, and when the man's fluid prevails over hers, the child resembles his paternal uncles."
أن امرأة قالت لرسول الله ﷺ: هل تغتسل المرأة إذا احتلمت وأبصرت الماء؟ فقال: نعم. فقالت لها عائشة: تربت يداك وألت. قالت: فقال رسول الله ﷺ: دعيها، وهل يكون الشبه إلا من قبل ذلك، إذا علا ماؤها ماء الرجل أشبه الولد أخواله، وإذا علا ماء الرجل ماءها أشبه أعمامه.
Muslim narrated it in the chapter on Menstruation (314:33) through several routes from Ibn Abu Zaida, from his father, from Musab bin Shayba, from Musafi bin Abdullah, from Urwa, from Ayesha, who related it.His saying, "The child resembles his maternal uncles more," does not mean that the resemblance is limited to the face alone. Rather, the resemblance is general. It may be in the face, and it may be in other parts of the body such as the foot, the hand, the nose, or the eye, and it may be in complexion, height, shortness, or other such features.
