The Prophet ﷺ said, "Were it not that I would impose hardship on my community, I would have commanded them to use the toothstick before every prayer."
ﷺ عن النبي ﷺ أنه قال: لولا أن أشق على أمتي لأمرتهم بالسواك مع كل صلاة.
Ahmad (23486) narrated it, he said, Yahya bin Saeed (Qattan) narrated to us, he said, we heard it from Amash, Abdullah bin Yasar narrated to me, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla, from a man among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, and he related the hadith.Its isnad is sahih. Abdullah bin Yasar is al-Juhani al-Kufi, whom Nasai deemed reliable. Ibn Hibban also mentioned him among al-Thiqat. As for the unnamed man, his not being named causes no harm, since he was one of the companions.
