Abu Salama reported that there was a dispute between him and some of his people over a piece of land. He went to Ayesha and mentioned the matter to her.She said, "Abu Salama, stay away from this land, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever wrongfully takes even a hand-span of land will have it placed around his neck from seven earths.'"
It was narrated by Bukhari in the Book of Injustices (2453) and Muslim in the Book of Sharecropping (1612), both through the route of Yahya bin Abu Kathir, who said, "Muhammad bin Ibrahim narrated to me," and then he related it. The wording given here is that of Muslim, and Bukhari's wording is similar. As for His saying, "The command descends between them" [Talaq 65:12], this means revelation and governance. Qatada said, "In every earth of His earths and every heaven of His heavens there is a creation of His creating, a command of His commanding, and a decree of His decreeing."As for His saying, "So that you may know that Allah is over all things competent and that Allah has encompassed all things in knowledge" [Talaq 65:12], this means that nothing is hidden from Him.
