I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "There are no three people in a village among whom the call to prayer is not made and the prayer is not established in congregation except that Satan gains mastery over them. So hold fast to the congregation, for the wolf devours the stray sheep."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: مامن ثلاثة في قرية لا يؤذنون، ولا تقام فيهم الصلاة إلا استحوذ عليهم الشيطان، فعليك بالجماعة، فإن الذئب يأكل القاصية.
Reported by Abu Dawud (547), Nasai (847), and Ahmad (21710) with this wording, and Ibn Khuzayma (1486) and Hakim (1/211), all of them through various chains from Zaida bin Qudama, who said, Saaib bin Hubaysh Kalai narrated to me, from Madan bin Abu Talha Yamuri, who said, Abu Darda said to me, "Where is your dwelling?" I said, "In a village near Hims." He said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, and he mentioned the hadith.Its chain is hasan because of Saaib bin Hubaysh Kalai Himsi, for his narration is hasan.
