I imitated a man in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "It would not please me to imitate someone, even if I were given such and such in return."I then said, "Messenger of Allah, Safiyyah is a woman..." and I gestured with my hand as if to indicate that she was short. He said, "You have spoken a word that, if it were mixed with the water of the sea, would taint it."
Reported by Abu Dawud (4875), Tirmidhi (2502, 2503), and Ahmad (25560), all of them through Sufyan Thawri, who said, Ali bin Aqmar told us, from Abu Huzaifa, who was one of the companions of Abdullah and about whom Talha used to narrate, from Ayesha, who said, and then he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith."
