Abdullah bin Zubayr reported,

A delegation from the tribe of Banu Tamim came to the Prophet ﷺ.Abu Bakr said, "Put Qaqa bin Mabad in charge of them."Umar said, "No, put Aqra bin Habis in charge."Abu Bakr said, "You wanted nothing but to oppose me."Umar replied, "I did not intend to oppose you."The two of them kept disputing until their voices grew loud, and concerning this was revealed, "You who believe, do not put yourselves forward before Allah and His Messenger" [Hujurat 49:1], to the end of the verse.
