Tirmidhi (2761) and Nasai (13) both narrated it through the route of Yusuf bin Suhayb, from Habib bin Yasar, from Zayd bin Arqam, who related the same thing. Tirmidhi said, "Hasan sahih." I say, it is as he said, and its chain is sahih. In some narrations there appears a mention of Abu Ramla, who is Abdullah bin Abu Umama Harithi Madani, inserted between Habib bin Yasar and Zayd bin Arqam, so this is an instance of an added narrator within an otherwise connected chain.As for what is reported from Ibn Abbas, who said that the Prophet ﷺ used to trim, or take from, his moustache, and that Ibrahim, the friend of the Merciful, used to do this, it is daif. Tirmidhi (2760) narrated it through the route of Simak, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, who related the same thing. Simak is Ibn Harb bin Aws Kufi, and he is "truthful," but there is confusion in his narration from Ikrima, and he had changed in his later years so that he would sometimes be prompted with material.
