The Prophet ﷺ said, "The one who truly upholds family ties is not the one who merely returns kindness for kindness, but the one who maintains the bond even when his relatives have severed it with him."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: ليس الواصل بالمكافئ، ولكن الواصل الذي إذا قطعت رحمه وصلها.
Bukhari related it in Al-Adab (5991) from Muhammad bin Kathir, who said, Sufyan told us, from Amash and Hasan bin Amr and Fitr, from Mujahid, from Abdullah bin Amr, and he related it.Sufyan said, "Amash did not attribute it to the Prophet ﷺ, but Hasan and Fitr attributed it to him."
