The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah leaves no excuse for a person whose life He has prolonged until he reaches sixty years of age."
عن النبي ﷺ لو قال: أعذر الله إلى امرئ أخر أجله حتى بلغه ستين سنة.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Softening of Hearts (6419) from Abdul-Salam bin Muthahhir, who said, "Umar bin Ali narrated to us, from Maen bin Muhammad Ghifari, from Saeed bin Abu Saeed Maqburi, from Abu Hurairah," and he mentioned it.The meaning of the hadith is that Allah left him no excuse to cling to, for prolonging his life to sixty years demands obedience, seeking forgiveness, and turning toward the Hereafter, unlike youth. For if a young man is told to repent from disobedience, he might say, "I will repent when I grow old," unlike the elderly man of advanced age, who has nothing left before him except repentance.
