We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey, and the people began to raise their voices loudly with the takbir. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Go easy on yourselves. You are not calling upon someone deaf or absent. You are calling upon One who hears all and is near, and He is with you..." (the hadith continues).
كنا مع النبي ﷺ في سفر، فجعل الناس يجهرون بالتكبير، فقال النبي ﷺ: اربعوا على أنفسكم، إنكم لا تدعون أصم ولا غائبا، إنكم تدعون سميعا قريبا وهو معكم… الحديث.
Bukhari recorded it in the Book of Military Expeditions (4202), and Muslim in the Book of Remembrance and Supplication (2704), both through the route of Aasim (that is, Ahwal), from Abu Uthman (that is, Nahdi), from Abu Musa Ashari, who mentioned it.As for the words "Say, if I have gone astray" [Saba 34:50], this is stated as a concession in the argument with the deniers who used to accuse him of being astray. So he said that his going astray, if it occurred, would concern only himself and would not extend to others, unlike guidance, which came only through revelation from Allah, who hears your words and your voices and will hold you accountable for your lack of faith in Him, and who is near to whoever calls upon Him and asks of Him.
