Anas bin Malik reported,

When Zaynab's waiting period had ended, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Zayd, "Go and mention me to her."Zayd said, "So I set out and came to her while she was kneading her dough. When I looked at her, she loomed so great in my heart, knowing that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had mentioned her, that I could not bear to look at her. So I turned my back to her and stepped away on my heels, and I said, 'Zaynab, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has sent word proposing to you.'She replied, 'I will do nothing until I consult my Lord.'Then she rose and went to her place of prayer, and the Quran was revealed, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and entered upon her without asking permission."The narrator continued, "I remember how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fed us bread and meat as the day stretched on. The people left, but some men stayed behind in the house talking after the meal. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out and I followed him, and he began going round the chambers of his wives, greeting them, and they would say, 'Messenger of Allah, how did you find your wife?' I do not recall whether I was the one who told him that the men had gone or whether he told me. Then he went and entered the house, and I made to go in with him, but he let the curtain fall between me and him, and the verse of the veil was revealed, and the people were admonished with what they were admonished with."In another narration he added, "Do not enter the houses of the Prophet unless permission is given to you for a meal, without waiting for it to be prepared" up to His words, "and Allah is not shy of the truth" [Ahzab 33:53].

عن أنس قال

لما انقضت عدة زينب قال رسول الله ﷺ لزيد: فاذكرها علي، قال: فانطلق زيد حتى أتاها وهي تخمر عجينها، قال: فلما رأيتها عظمت في صدري حتى ما أستطيع أن أنظر إليها أن رسول الله ﷺ ذكرها، فوليتها ظهري ونكصت على عقبي، فقلت: يا زينب أرسل رسول الله ﷺ يذكرك، قالت: ما أنا بصانعة شيئا حتى أوامر ربي، فقامت إلى مسجدها، ونزل القرآن، وجاء رسول الله ﷺ، فدخل عليها بغير إذن. قال: فقال: ولقد رأيتنا أن رسول الله ﷺ أطعمنا الخبز واللحم حين امتد النهار، فخرج الناس، وبقي رجال يتحدثون في البيت بعد الطعام، فخرج رسول الله ﷺ واتبعته، فجعل يتتبع حجر نسائه يسلم عليهن، ويقلن: يا رسول الله كيف وجدت أهلك؟ قال: فما أدري أنا أخبرته أن القوم قد خرجوا أو أخبرني. قال: فانطلق حتى دخل البيت فذهبت أدخل معه، فألقى الستر بيني وبينه ونزل الحجاب قال: ووعظ القوم بما وعظوا به. وزاد في رواية: {لا تدخلوا بيوت النبي إلا أن يؤذن لكم إلى طعام غير نظرين إناه} إلى قوله: {والله لا يستحي من الحق}
