Ayesha reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to her when Allah commanded him to give his wives the choice. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began with me and said, "I am going to mention a matter to you, and there is no need for you to hurry until you consult your parents." He knew that my parents would never have ordered me to part from him.She said, then he recited, "Allah has said, 'O Prophet, say to your wives'" [Ahzab 33:28–29], reciting the two verses in full.I said to him, "About which part of this should I consult my parents? I choose Allah, His Messenger, and the abode of the Hereafter."
