Umar copied a portion of the Torah into Arabic and brought it to the Prophet ﷺ. He began to read it, and the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ started to change.A man from the Ansar said, "Woe to you, Ibn al-Khattab! Do you not see the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Do not ask the People of the Book about anything, for they will never guide you, having gone astray themselves. You will either reject a truth or accept a falsehood. By Allah, if Musa were alive among you, it would not be lawful for him except to follow me."
نسخ عمر كتابا من التوراة بالعربية، فجاء به إلى النبي ﷺ، فجعل يقرأ ووجه رسول الله ﷺ يتغير، فقال رجل من الأنصار: ويحك يا ابن الخطاب، ألا ترى وجه رسول الله ﷺ؟ فقال النبي ﷺ: لا تسألوا أهل الكتاب عن شيء، فإنهم لن يهدوكم وقد ضلوا، وإنكم إما أن تكذبوا بحق، أو تصدقوا بباطل، والله لو كان موسى بين أظهركم ما حل له إلا أن يتبعني.
Bazzar narrated it (Kashf Astar 124), from Abdul-Wahid bin Ghiyath, Hammad bin Zayd told us, Khalid told us, Amir told me, Jabir told us, and he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan. It contains Khalid, who is Ibn Saeed bin Salama Makhzumi, known as Fafa, and he is truthful. Mujalid bin Saeed corroborated him in this hadith, which is the hadith that follows.
