Ayesha reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that the slain be cast into the well, so they were thrown in, except for Umaya bin Khalaf, whose body had swollen inside his armor and filled it. When they tried to move him, he came apart, so they left him in place and covered him with enough dirt and stones to conceal him. After he had cast them into the well, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood over them and said, "People of the well, have you found what your Lord promised you to be true? For I have indeed found what my Lord promised me to be true."His companions said to him, "Messenger of Allah, are you speaking to a dead people?"He replied to them, "They know full well that what I promised them is true."Ayesha said, "People say that they actually heard what he said to them, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ only said, 'They know full well.'"
