The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said when the verse "And warn your closest relatives" [Shuara 26:214] was revealed to him, "People of Quraysh, ransom yourselves from Allah, for I cannot avail you anything against Allah. Sons of Abd al-Muttalib, I cannot avail you anything against Allah. Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib, I cannot avail you anything against Allah. Safiyyah, aunt of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I cannot avail you anything against Allah. Fatimah, daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, ask me for whatever you wish, but I cannot avail you anything against Allah."
Bukhari related it in the tafsir (4771), and Muslim in faith (206), through Zuhri, who said, Ibn Musayab and Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman told me that Abu Hurairah said, then he mentioned it. The wording is Muslim's.
