Ayesha said, "I was accused of what I was accused of while I was completely unaware, and I only learned of it later."She continued, "While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting with me, revelation came to him. Whenever revelation came to him, it would overtake him like a deep sleep. Revelation came to him while he was sitting beside me. Then he sat upright, wiping his face, and said, 'Ayesha, rejoice at the good news.'"She said, "I replied, 'Praise be to Allah, not to you.' Then he recited, 'Indeed, those who accuse chaste, unaware, believing women,' until he reached, 'Those are declared innocent of what they say. For them is forgiveness and a noble provision' [Nur 24:23–26]."
رميت بما رميت به وأنا غافلة، فبلغني بعد ذلك، قالت: فبينما رسول الله ﷺ عندي جالس، إذ أوحي إليه، وكان إذا أوحي إليه أخذه كهيئة السبات، وإنه أوحي إليه وهو جالس عندي، ثم استوى جالسا يمسح عن وجهه، وقال: يا عائشة! أبشري، قالت: فقلت: بحمد الله لا بحمدك، فقرأ: {إن الذين يرمون المحصنت الغفلات المؤمنات} حتى بلغ: {أولئك مبرءون مما يقولون لهم مغفرة ورزق كريم}
Ibn Jareer narrated it in his Tafsir (17/227), and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (121/23), both through the route of Abu Awana, from Umar bin Abu Salama, from his father, from Ayesha, and so he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Umar bin Abu Salama, for his hadith is hasan when he does not err. Accusing believing women of unchastity is among the major sins, as stated in the Sahih.
