Ayesha reported,

I have never heard anything finer than the poetry of Hassan, and I never recite it without hoping Paradise for him. His words to Abu Sufyan,"You have lampooned Muhammad, and I have answered on his behalf, and with Allah lies the reward for that. You have lampooned Muhammad, righteous and pious, the trusted Messenger of Allah, whose nature is fidelity. My father, his father, and my honor are a shield for the honor of Muhammad against you. Do you revile him when you are no match for him? May the worse of you be ransom for the better. My tongue is sharp, with no defect in it, and my sea cannot be muddied by buckets."It was said, "Mother of the Believers, is this not idle speech?"She replied, "No. Idle speech is only what is said in the presence of women."It was said, "Does Allah not say, 'And he among them who took the greatest share in it shall have a grievous punishment' [Nur 24:11]?"She answered, "Did a grievous punishment not befall him? Did he not lose his sight, and was he not struck down with the sword?"

His saying, "Those who consume riba will not stand except as one stands who is being beaten by Satan into insanity. That is because they say, 'Trade is just like riba.' But Allah has permitted trade and forbidden riba."
