The Prophet ﷺ sent me, so I stood over the sacrificial camels. He instructed me, and I distributed their meat. Then he instructed me, and I distributed their saddle-cloths and hides.
بعثني النبي ﷺ، فقمت على البدن، فأمرني، فقسمت لحومها، ثم أمرني، فقسمت جلالها وجلودها.
Bukhari related it in the Hajj chapter (1716), and Muslim in the Hajj chapter (1317), both through the route of Ibn Abu Najeeh, from Mujahid, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla, from Ali, and he mentioned it. The wording given is Bukhari's. Muslim did not present its wording with this chain.As for His saying, "the distressed, the poor" [Hajj 22:28], it means the poor person who has nothing at all, and distress (al-bu's) means severe poverty.
