Ibn Majah (40) narrated it from Uthman bin Abu Shayba, who said, Muhammad bin Fudayl narrated to us, from Amash, from Hakam, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla, from Ali, and he related the hadith. Its chain is sahih.As for what was narrated from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet ﷺ, that he said, "Let none of you find that a hadith is related to him from me while he is reclining on his couch, and he says, 'Recite a Quran verse for it, whatever good saying was said, then I said it,'" this is munkar. Ibn Majah (21) narrated it through the route of Muhammad bin Fudayl, who said, Maqburi narrated to us, from his grandfather, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it. In its chain is Maqburi, who is Abdullah bin Saeed bin Abu Saeed, and he is matruk in hadith.Ahmad (8801) narrated it from Khalaf, who said, Abu Mashar narrated to us, from Saeed, from Abu Hurairah, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Let none of you find that a hadith comes to him from me while he is reclining on his couch, and he says, 'Recite to me from it a Quran verse,' whatever good comes to you from me, then I said it, or I did not say it, for I am the one who says it, and whatever evil comes to you from me, then I do not speak evil." Abu Mashar is Najeeh bin Abdul-Rahman Sindi, and he is daif. Ibn Madini and Fallas both stated explicitly that he used to narrate munkar hadiths from Maqburi, and this is one of them.
