Umar bin Khattab reported,

He entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the upper chamber where he had withdrawn from his wives when he had separated from them. He was lying on a mat with nothing between him and it, and beneath his head was a leather pillow stuffed with palm fibers. Near his feet was a pile of tanning leaves, and by his head hung some leather skins. I saw the marks of the mat on his side, and I wept.He asked, "What makes you weep?"I replied, "Messenger of Allah, Chosroes and Caesar enjoy what they enjoy, while you are the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."He said, "Are you not pleased that they should have this world and we should have the hereafter?"The hadith continues.
