Jareer reported, "We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he looked at the moon on the night of a full moon and said, 'You will surely see your Lord just as you see this moon. You will have no difficulty in seeing Him. So if you are able to never be overcome from offering a prayer before the rising of the sun and before its setting, then do so,' meaning the Asr and Fajr prayers."Then Jareer recited, "And glorify the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting" [Ta-Ha 20:130].
كنا جلوسا عند رسول الله ﷺ، إذ نظر إلى القمر ليلة البدر، فقال: أما إنكم ستترون ربكم، كما ترون هذا القمر، لا تضامون في رؤيته، فإن استطعتم أن لا تغلبوا على صلاة قبل طلوع الشمس وقبل غروبها. يعني العصر والفجر، ثم قرأ جرير: {وسبح بحمد ربك قبل طلوع الشمس وقبل غروبها}.
Bukhari related it in the chapters on prayer times (554), and Muslim in the chapters on mosques (633), both of them from the hadith of Marwan bin Muawiya Fazari, Ismail bin Abu Khalid told us, Qays bin Abu Hazim narrated to us, he said, I heard Jareer bin Abdullah say, then he mentioned it.
