The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "On the Day of Resurrection, death will be brought forward in the form of a white ram and made to stand between Paradise and the Fire. It will be said, 'People of Paradise, do you recognize this?' They will stretch out their necks, look closely, and say, 'Yes, this is death.' Then it will be said, 'People of the Fire, do you recognize this?' They too will stretch out their necks, look closely, and say, 'Yes, this is death.' Then the order will be given, and it will be slaughtered. Then it will be said, 'People of Paradise, eternity, no more death. People of the Fire, eternity, no more death.'"Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited, "And warn them of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be decided, while they are in heedlessness and do not believe" [Maryam 19:39], and he gestured with his hand toward this world.
Bukhari related it in the tafsir (4730), and Muslim in the Book of Paradise, Its Description of Bliss and Its People (2849), both through Amash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Saeed, who said, then he narrated it. The wording is Muslim's, and Bukhari's wording is similar.
