Abu Dawud (4603) narrated it from Ahmad bin Hanbal, who said, Yazid, that is Ibn Harun, told us, Muhammad bin Amr informed us, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.Imam Ahmad (7508) narrated it from Yazid, who said, Zakariya informed us, from Saad bin Ibrahim, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, with the wording, "Disputing about the Quran is disbelief." Its isnad is sahih, its narrators being the narrators of the Sahih. In another wording found in Ahmad (7989), the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Quran was revealed in seven forms of recitation. Disputing about the Quran is disbelief" - three times - "so whatever of it you understand, act upon it, and whatever of it you do not know, refer it to one who knows it." He narrated it from Anas bin Iyad, who said, Abu Hazim told me, from Abu Salama, who said, I only know it as being from Abu Hurairah, and he related it. This too is a sahih isnad, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (74) by this route.Bazzar narrated it (Kashf Astar - 2313) through another route, from Muhammad bin Amr, with the same chain, and added to it, "The Quran was revealed in seven forms of recitation, and disputing about the Quran is disbelief."
