The Prophet ﷺ reported, narrating from his Lord , "Allah has recorded good deeds and bad deeds." Then he explained this, "Whoever intends a good deed but does not do it, Allah records it with Him as a complete good deed. If he intends it and then does it, Allah records it with Him as ten good deeds, up to seven hundred times, up to many times multiplied. Whoever intends a bad deed but does not do it, Allah records it with Him as a complete good deed. If he intends it and then does it, Allah records it as a single bad deed."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Softening of Hearts (6491), and Muslim in the Book of Faith (131), both from the hadith of Abdul-Warith, from Jaad Abu Uthman, who said, "Abu Raja Attaradi narrated to us, from Ibn Abbas," and he mentioned it. Muslim added, "and Allah erased it, and none is destroyed before Allah except one who is bound for destruction."
