Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

Jabir reported that when this verse was revealed, "Say, He is the One able to send upon you punishment from above you" [Anam 6:65], the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I seek refuge in Your face."Then came, "or from beneath your feet" [Anam 6:65]. He said, "I seek refuge in Your face."Then, "or to confuse you into divisions and make you taste the violence of one another" [Anam 6:65]. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This is lighter," or, "This is easier."

عن جابر

قال لما نزلت هذه الآية: {قل هو القادر على ان يبعث عليكم عذابا من فوقكم} قال رسول الله ﷺ: أعوذ بوجهك. قال: {أو من تحت أرجلكم} قال: أعوذ بوجهك. {أو يلبسكم شيعا ويذيق بعضكم بأس بعض} قال رسول الله ﷺ: هذا أهون أو هذا أيسر.
