The Prophet ﷺ said, "When you see Allah granting a servant whatever he desires of this world despite his disobedience, it is only a gradual luring toward ruin."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited, "So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the gates of every good thing, until, when they rejoiced in what they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were plunged into despair" [Anam 6:44].
عن النبي ﷺ قال: إذا رأيت الله يعطي العبد من الدنيا على معاصيه ما يحب، فإنما هو استدراج. ثم تلا رسول الله ﷺ: {فلما نسوا ما ذكروا به فتحنا عليهم ابواب كل شيء حتى اذا فرحوا بما اوتوا اخذنهم بغتة فاذا هم مبلسون}
Ahmad (17311) narrated it from Yahya bin Ghaylan, who said, Rushdin, meaning Ibn Saad, Abu Hajjaj Mahri, narrated to us, from Harmala bin Imran Tujaybi, from Uqba bin Muslim, from Uqba bin Amir, and he related it. Rushdin bin Saad is daif according to the authorities on hadith, but he has been corroborated. Dulabi related it in al-Kuna (1/111), and Tabarani in al-Awsat (9268), and Bayhaqi in al-Qadar wal-Qadr (2/566), and in Shuab al-Iman (4220), all of them through other routes from Harmala bin Imran Tujaybi, in the same manner. Hafiz Iraqi graded it hasan in Takhrij al-Ihya (4/115), after attributing it to Ahmad, Tabarani, and Bayhaqi in al-Shuab.The hadith also has another chain, as Ibn Jareer Tabari said in his Tafsir, "Muhammad bin Harb related this hadith, from Ibn Lahia, from Uqba bin Muslim, in similar wording." There is well known criticism of Ibn Lahia, but the corroboration of these narrators confirms that he did not err in this hadith, but rather preserved it well and transmitted it just as he heard it.
