The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Part of revering Allah is honoring the elderly Muslim, honoring the bearer of the Quran who neither exceeds proper bounds in it nor neglects it, and honoring the just ruler."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إن من إجلال الله إكرام ذي الشيبة المسلم، وحامل القرآن غير الغالي فيه والجافي عنه، وإكرام ذي السلطان المقسط.
Abu Dawud (4843) narrated it from Ishaq bin Ibrahim Sawwaf, from Abdullah bin Humran, who said, Awf bin Abu Jameela informed us, from Ziyad bin Mikhraq, from Abu Kinana, from Abu Musa, and he related it. Its isnad is hasan because of Abdullah bin Humran, for he is "truthful."As for what is reported from Abu Umama as a raised report, "There are three whom no one belittles except a hypocrite, one who has grown old in Islam, one possessing knowledge, and a just ruler," this is daif. Tabarani narrated it in Al-Kabir.Haythami said in Al-Majma (1/127), "Tabarani narrated it in Al-Kabir through the transmission of Ubaydullah bin Zahr, from Ali bin Yazid, and both of them are daif."
