The Prophet ﷺ was asked about the time of trials. The narrator said, I asked, "Messenger of Allah, what do you think if someone enters my house and stretches out his hand to kill me?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Be like the son of Adam." Then Yazid recited, "If you stretch out your hand to kill me, I shall not stretch out my hand to kill you. Indeed, I fear Allah, Lord of the worlds" [Maidah 5:28].
عن النبي ﷺ- في حديث الفتنة- قال: قلت: يا رسول الله! أرأيت إن دخل علي بيتي، وبسط يده ليقتلني؟ قال: فقال رسول الله ﷺ: كن كابن آدم وتلا يزيد {لئن بسطت إلي يدك لتقتلني ما أنا بباسط يدي إليك لأقتلك إني أخاف الله رب العالمين}
Abu Dawud (4257) narrated it from Yazid bin Khalid Ramli, who said, Mufaddal narrated to us, from Ayyash bin Abbas, from Bukayr, from Busr bin Saeed, from Husayn bin Abdul-Rahman Ashjai, that he heard Saad bin Abu Waqqas say... and he mentioned it. Husayn bin Abdul-Rahman is unknown, no one narrated from him except Busr bin Saeed, and no one declared him trustworthy except Ibn Hibban. However, he is corroborated in the essence of the story.Ibn Abu Shayba (7/15), Bazzar (1223), and Abu Yaala (789) narrated it through various chains from Dawud bin Abu Hind, from Abu Uthman Nahdi, from Saad bin Abu Waqqas, in an abridged form.Tirmidhi (2194) and Ahmad (1609) narrated it from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Layth bin Saad narrated to us, from Ayyash bin Abbas, from Bukayr bin Abdullah, from Busr bin Saeed, that Saad bin Abu Waqqas said, and he mentioned the hadith concerning the fitna of Uthman bin Affan, in which it says, "Be like the son of Adam," thereby dropping the intermediary. But the correct thing is to mention him.
