This concerns a man whose wife is no longer of much interest to him and whom he wishes to leave, so she says, "I release you from your obligations toward me." The verse was revealed regarding this situation.
في قوله تعالى: {وإن امرأة خافت من بعلها نشوزا أو إعراضا}
الرجل تكون عنده المرأة ليس بمستكثر منها، يريد أن يفارقها، فتقول: أجعلك من شأني في حل. فنزلت الآية في ذلك.
Bukhari narrated it in the tafsir (4601), and Muslim in the tafsir (3021), both through Hisham bin Urwa, from his father, from Ayesha, as I have mentioned. Bukhari also narrated it in the chapter on reconciliation (2694), through another route, from Hisham with this same chain, where she said, "It is the man who sees something in his wife that he dislikes, whether due to her old age or something else, and he wants to separate from her, so she says, 'Keep me, and allocate for me whatever you wish.'" Ayesha said, "There is no harm in that if the two of them agree to it."His words, "not desiring much of her," mean in terms of love, staying with her, intimacy, and other such things.
