Commentary

Zia-ur-Rahman Azami

Muslim narrated it in the Book of Menstruation (373) through multiple routes from Ibn Abu Zaida, from his father, from Khalid bin Salama, from Bahi, from Urwa, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it. Bukhari mentioned it as a suspended narration.As for His saying, "Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers at fixed times" [Nisa 4:103], it means obligatory, as Ibn Abbas said. And Ibn Masud said, "Prayer has a fixed time just as Hajj has a fixed time."
