Ubayy reported, "I used to spend the night with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I would bring him water for his ablution and whatever else he needed."He said to me, "Ask."I said, "I ask for your companionship in Paradise."He asked, "Is there anything else?"I replied, "That is what I ask."He said, "Then help me to grant you that by making many prostrations."
كنت أبيت مع رسول الله ﷺ، فأتيته بوضوئه وحاجته، فقال: سل، فقلت: أسألك مرافقتك في الجنة، قال: أو غير ذلك؟ قلت: هو ذاك، قال: فأعني على نفسك بكثرة السجود.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Prayer (489), from Hakam bin Musa Abu Salih, who said, Hiqal bin Ziyad narrated to us, he said, I heard Uzai say, Yahya bin Abu Kathir narrated to me, Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman narrated to me, Rabia bin Kaab Aslami narrated to me, and then he mentioned the hadith.His saying, "So help me by frequent sujud," means, increase your prayer if you wish to accompany me, for companionship does not necessarily entail equality, and therefore there is no need for figurative interpretation. This is evidence for those who hold that frequent ruku and sujud is better than prolonging the ruku and sujud.
