Abu Umama Taymi reported,

I used to work as a hired transport driver on this route, and some people would say to me, "You have no valid Hajj." So I met Ibn Umar and said, "Abu Abd al-Rahman, I am a man who works as a hired driver on this route, and some people are telling me that I have no valid Hajj."Ibn Umar replied, "Do you not enter the state of ihram, recite the talbiyah, circumambulate the House, depart from Arafat, and stone the pillars?"I said, "Yes, I do."He said, "Then you have a valid Hajj. A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him the very same question you have asked me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent and did not answer him until this verse was revealed, 'There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lord' [Baqarah 2:198]. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then sent for him, recited this verse to him, and said, 'You have a valid Hajj.'"
