Nafi reported,

Ibn Umar reported that two men came to him during the strife stirred up by Ibn Zubayr and said, "The people have gone to ruin, and you are the son of Umar and a companion of the Prophet ﷺ. What holds you back from going out to fight?"He replied, "What holds me back is that Allah has forbidden me the blood of my brother."They said, "Did Allah not say, 'And fight them until there is no more strife'? [Baqarah 2:193]"Ibn Umar answered, "We fought until there was no strife and religion belonged to Allah. You want to fight until there is strife and religion belongs to someone other than Allah."
