Two types of carrion and two types of blood have been made lawful for us, Jarad and fish, and liver and spleen.
أحلت لنا ميتتان ودمان: الجراد والحيتان والكبد والطحال.
Bayhaqi (1/254) narrated it from the hadith of Ibn Wahb, who said, Sulayman bin Bilal told us, from Zayd bin Aslam, from Abdullah bin Umar, and he related it. Bayhaqi said, "This chain is sahih, and it carries the meaning of a musnad narration." Ibn Abdul-Hadi likewise said in Tanqih (4/643), "What is correct regarding this hadith is what Sulayman bin Bilal, the trustworthy and firm narrator, related from Zayd bin Aslam, from Abdullah bin Umar, that he said, 'Two dead things have been made lawful for us,' and this is a mawquf narration that has the standing of a marfu one."I say, rather it is marfu both in wording and in meaning, for permitting and forbidding belong to the Lawgiver. Ibn Qayyim said in Zad Mad (3/392), "This is a hasan hadith, and this mawquf narration has the standing of a marfu one, because when a companion says, 'Such and such was made lawful for us, and such and such was forbidden to us,' this refers back to the Prophet's ﷺ permitting and forbidding."
