The Prophet ﷺ said, "Muaz, do you know what the right of Allah is upon His servants?"Muaz replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."The Prophet ﷺ said, "That they worship Him and associate nothing with Him. Do you know what their right is upon Him?"Muaz replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."The Prophet ﷺ said, "That He will not punish them."
قال النبي ﷺ: يا معاذ، أتدري ما حق الله على العباد؟ قال: الله ورسوله أعلم، قال: أن يعبدوه ولا يشركوا به شيئا، أتدري ما حقهم عليه؟ قال: الله ورسوله أعلم، قال: أن لا يعذبهم
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Tawhid (7373), and Muslim in the Book of Faith (30:50), both from the hadith of Muhammad bin Jafar Ghundar, who said, Shubah narrated to us, from Abu Husayn and Ashath bin Salim, who both heard Aswad bin Hilal, from Muaz bin Jabal, and he mentioned it.
