The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Quran will come on the Day of Resurrection and will say, 'My Lord, adorn him.' So he will be clothed with the crown of honor. Then it will say, 'My Lord, give him more.' So he will be clothed with the robe of honor. Then it will say, 'My Lord, be pleased with him.' So He will be pleased with him. Then it will be said to him, 'Recite and ascend,' and with every verse a good deed will be added."
Tirmidhi (2915) narrated it, and Hakim (1/552) graded it sahih, both through the route of Abdul-Samad bin Abdul-Warith, who said, Shuba told us, from Asim, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it. Its isnad is hasan because of Asim, who is Ibn Abu Najud, for he is hasan al-hadith. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan hadith."Tirmidhi also narrated it (2915) from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, Muhammad bin Jafar told us, who said, Shuba told us, from Asim bin Bahdala, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, in similar wording, but without raising it to the Prophet. He said, "This is more sahih in our view than the hadith of Abdul-Samad from Shuba."I say, it is as he said, for Muhammad bin Jafar is among the most reliable of people regarding Shuba, and Shuba was corroborated in stopping it at the companion by Zaida bin Qudama, as found in Ibn Abu Shayba (30670), and by Zayd bin Abu Unaysa, as found in Darimi (3354).However, a matter like this is not something to be settled by mere opinion, for perhaps the companion himself narrated it in two separate sessions, once stopping it at himself and once raising it to the Prophet. This is because Abdul-Samad bin Abdul-Warith was not alone among those who narrated it from Shuba as a raised hadith, rather he was corroborated by Abu Qutayba Salm bin Qutayba, as found in Abu Naeem's Hilya (7/206). Salm bin Qutayba is Shuayri, whom Abu Zura and Abu Dawud deemed reliable, while Ibn Main and Abu Hatim said, "There is no harm in him."This corroboration strengthens what I have said, that the companion narrated this hadith in two sessions, mentioning it in one of them as stopped at himself and in the other as raised to the Prophet, and this is preferable to declaring one of the two routes mistaken. Also relevant in meaning is what has been narrated from Abu Hurairah, or from Abu Saeed, who said, "It will be said to the companion of the Quran on the Day of Resurrection, 'Read and ascend, for your station is at the last verse you recite.'" Ahmad narrated it (10087) from Waki, who said, Amash told us, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah or from Abu Saeed, and he related it as stopped at the companion.Ibn Majah narrated it (3780) through the route of Atiya bin Saad Awfi, from Abu Saeed Khudri, relating it in similar wording, but Atiya Awfi was declared daif by Abu Zura, Abu Hatim, Nasai, and others.
