The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no contagion, no evil omen, and no ghoul."In another wording, "There is no contagion, no ghoul, and no Safar."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: لا عدوى ولا طيرة ولا غول وفي لفظ: لا عدوى ولا غول ولا صفر
Muslim narrated it in his chapter on Salaam (2222:107) through multiple routes from Zuhayr, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, mentioning it with the first wording. He also narrated it (2222:109) through the route of Ibn Jurayj, who said, Abu Zubayr told me that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah say it, mentioning it with the second wording.Ibn Jurayj said, I heard Abu Zubayr mention that Jabir explained to them the saying, "and no safar," Abu Zubayr said, safar refers to the belly. Jabir was asked, how so? He said, it used to be said, the creatures of the belly. He said, but he did not explain ghoul. Abu Zubayr said, this refers to the ghoul that transforms.
