The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no contagion and no evil omen from owls. So who infected the first one?"
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: لا عدوى ولا هامة فمن أعدى الأول.
Bazzar (7088) narrated it from Ali bin Husayn Darhami, who said, Abdul-Ala told us, Saeed told us, from Qatada, and I do not know it except from Anas, then he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Darhami, for he is truthful (saduq) as Abu Hatim and Nasai said. Saeed is Ibn Abu Aruba, who did become confused in his later years, but Abdul-Ala bin Abdul-Ala narrated from him before that confusion occurred, as Ibn Main said. Haythami said in al-Majmu (5/102), "Bazzar narrated it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Ali bin Husayn Darhami, who is trustworthy (thiqah)." Part of it is found in the Sahih.
