When a woman suffering from fever was brought to Asma bint Abu Bakr, she would pray for her, then take water and pour it between her and the opening of her garment, saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command us to cool it down with water."
أن أسماء بنت أبي بكر إذا أتيت بالمرأة وقد حمت تدعو لها، أخذت الماء فصبته بينها وبين جيبها وقالت: إن رسول الله ﷺ كان يأمرنا أن نبردها بالماء.
Malik reported it in Ayn (15), from Hisham bin Urwa, from Fatimah bint Munzir, and he mentioned it. Bukhari reported it in Tibb (5724) through the route of Malik, with the same wording. Muslim reported it in Salam (2211) through another route from Hisham bin Urwa, with the same wording.
