He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "In the black seed there is a cure for every disease except as-sam."Ibn Shihab said, "As-sam means death, and the black seed is shuniz."
أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول: في الحبة السوداء شفاء من كل داء إلا السام قال ابن شهاب: والسام: الموت، والحبة السوداء: الشونيز.
Bukhari reported it in the Book of Medicine (5688), and Muslim in the Book of Greetings (2215), both through Layth, from Aqeel, from Ibn Shihab, who said, Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman and Saeed bin Musayab told me that Abu Hurairah told them, and he related it.
