Messenger of Allah, the children of Jafar are quickly afflicted by the evil eye. Shall I seek a ruqyah for them?He replied, "Yes, for if anything were to outstrip destiny, it would be the evil eye."
يا رسول الله إن ولد جعفر تسرع إليهم العين، فأسترقي لهم؟ فقال: نعم، فإنه لو كان شيء سابق القدر لسبقته العين.
Tirmidhi (2059), Ibn Majah (3510), and Ahmad (27470) all reported it through the route of Sufyan, from Amr bin Dinar, from Urwa bin Amir, from Ubayd bin Rifa Zurqi, who said, "Asma bint Umays said," and then he related it. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith."I say, its chain is hasan because of Urwa bin Amir. It is stated in Taqrib, "There is disagreement about whether he was a companion. He has a hadith about bad omens, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy successors." His teacher Ubayd bin Rifa is also truthful. However, the wording of Ubayd bin Rifa Zurqi, "Asma bint Umays said," outwardly suggests a broken chain (mursal). But Tirmidhi said after this, "This has also been reported from Ayub, from Amr bin Dinar, from Urwa bin Amir, from Ubayd bin Rifa, from Asma bint Umays, from the Prophet ﷺ." This chain is connected, and it is the more correct one, as Daraqutni stated in Ilal (15/304).
