When the delegation of Abdul-Qays came to the Prophet ﷺ, he asked, "Who are these people?" or "Which delegation is this?"They answered, "We are from Rabia."He said, "Welcome to the people," or "to the delegation, neither disgraced nor regretful."They said, "Messenger of Allah, we can only come to you during the sacred month, and between us and you lies this tribe of unbelievers from Mudar. So give us a clear command that we may convey to those we left behind and by which we may enter Paradise."They also asked him about drinks. He commanded them with four things and forbade them from four. He commanded them to believe in Allah alone, then asked, "Do you know what belief in Allah alone is?"They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He said, "It is to bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to establish the prayer, to give the zakat, to fast Ramadan, and to give one fifth of the war spoils."He forbade them from four things, from the green jar, the gourd, the hollowed stump, and the pitch-coated vessel, and perhaps he said, "the tar-coated vessel." Then he said, "Memorize these and convey them to those you left behind."
Bukhari related it in the Book of Knowledge (87), and Muslim in the Book of Faith (17), through various routes from Shuba, from Abu Jamra, who said, "I used to interpret between Ibn Abbas and the people," and he mentioned it.
