The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Beware of trivial sins, for the likeness of trivial sins is that of a group of people who camped in the bottom of a valley. One brought a stick, and another brought a stick, until they had gathered enough to bake their bread. Indeed, when trivial sins are held against their doer, they destroy him."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إياكم ومحقرات الذنوب فإنما مثل محقرات الذنوب كقوم نزلوا بطن واد، فجاء ذا بعود، وجاء ذا بعود، حتى أنضجوا خبزتهم، وإن محقرات الذنوب متى يؤخذ بها صاحبها تهلكه.
Ahmad narrated it (22808) from Anas bin Iyad, who said, Abu Hazim told me, I do not know it except from Sahl bin Saad, who said, then he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Anas bin Iyad and his teacher are among the reliable and precise narrators, and this is one of Imam Ahmad's three-narrator chains.This same route was also narrated by Tabarani in Al-Kabir (6/204), Al-Awsat (7319), and Al-Saghir (2/49), and by Ruyani in his Musnad (1065), and by Baghawi in Sharh al-Sunnah (4203), except that Baghawi said, "This hadith was narrated by Mamar, from Abu Ishaq, from Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid, from Ibn Masud, as a stopped report attributed to him."I say, it does no harm that some narrators raised it to the Prophet, because they are reliable and precise narrators as I have said, so perhaps he narrated it once as a stopped report and another time as a raised one, and the ruling goes to whoever added something.
