The Prophet ﷺ used to supplicate, saying, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity, laziness, miserliness, decrepit old age, harshness of heart, heedlessness, humiliation, and destitution. I seek refuge in You from poverty, disbelief, polytheism, hypocrisy, seeking reputation, and showing off. And I seek refuge in You from deafness, muteness, insanity, leprosy, vitiligo, and evil diseases."
كان النبي ﷺ يدعو، يقول: اللهم إني أعوذ بك من العجز والكسل، والبخل، والهرم، والقسوة، والغفلة، والذلة والمسكنة، وأعوذ بك من الفقر، والكفر، والشرك، والنفاق، والسمعة، والرياء، وأعوذ بك من الصمم، والبكم، والجنون، والبرص، والجذام، وسيئ الأسقام.
Ibn Hibban (1023), Hakim (1/530), and Tabarani in Saghir (4700, Majma Bahrayn) all narrated it through the route of Shayban, from Qatada, from Anas, and he mentioned it.Abu Dawud (1554) and Nasai (5493) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (1017) graded it sahih, through two other routes from Qatada, from him, with the wording, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from leprosy, madness, elephantiasis, and evil sicknesses." Its chain of transmission is sahih.Hakim said, "This is a sahih hadith according to the criterion of the two Shaykhs [Bukhari and Muslim]."I say, Hakim narrated it through the route of Adam bin Abu Iyas, from Shayban. But Muslim did not narrate from Adam at all, only Bukhari narrated from him.
